NEW YORK FASHION WEEK & SERGIO HUDSON

Updated: Jul 8

Going to New York Fashion Week (NYFW) was an absolute dream and I still can't believe all the incredible clothes I saw!

One of my favorite parts of the entire trip was meeting the legendary American fashion designer, Sergio Hudson!

While at Fashion Week, Vogue Magazine described Sergio's design process as he

"skipped the gimmicky catchphrases and focused on a wearable collection of separates, coats, and suits that were meant to feel expensive - just not trendy. 'I really wanted to beef up the ready-to-wear, and make it more luxurious,' he said."

The article goes on to illustrate his clothes designed for

"powerful women who invest in sharp pieces and don't feel timid about rocking them. There was a sense of power and confidence in his sleek cuts this season. A pinstriped, double-breasted jumpsuit could command any boardroom; ditto his long-sleeved camel dress with a pleated hemline, punctuated with a big leather waist corset. The clothes were classic, but had a subtle fierceness to them."

Women's Wear Daily writes

"The decade of cultural change has served well for the designer, an endless source of inspiration for his power dressing via one-of-a-kind muses he has channeled before: Tina Turner and Bianca Jagger."
"While the first half of the collection was muted in palette, Hudson always injects saturate color in his work. The second half of his runway went bright and sexy, as well as tactile with sequin tops, velvet suiting, leather obi belts, and draped dresses... of course, plenty of his trademark power suiting, now with bell-bottom trousers that swished by."
